WHAT IS A TREASURY AND HOW TO MAKE ONE
TREASURIES are member curated shopping galleries comprising of 16 items from 16 different shops.
They are not intended for self – promotion but instead to promote and advertise the many cool things for
sale on Etsy by your fellow Etsians. And in turn they will feature your items.
Imagine if you do one treasury of 16 items and are reciprocated by all 16 shops advertising your item. This is
the advantage achieved by the making of treasuries. They are great promotional tools that are easy and fun
to make.
CREATING A TREASURY IS EASY - HERE IS HOW:
1) CHOOSE ITEM LISTINGS
Begin by selecting 16 item listings from different shops for your list. You can choose to feature any item
from any team you like but in STATTEAM Team treasuries there need to be a minimum of 6 Team members used in the treasury. Otherwise it will not count as a Team treasury.
To place your choices you will need the listing ID number for each item. Learn how to find the listing ID
number. It is on the right hand side of the listed items page below the date the item was listed. It will say
transaction# 1234567 (using this secquence of numbers for example, they will all be different numbers)
If you are really new to Etsy, I would suggest making a list of the items you would like to feature before you
start to work on the computer so that you don’t get confused. As you get more experienced you will be able
to just start a list and go from there. But to start, a list of the shop you want to feature and the item
Transaction# would be very helpful.
If you have a list of favorites , it is an excellent source to find the items you would like to have featured in
your treasury. If you dont have a list of favorites, it would be a good idea to start one for future use. That
way you have a ready to use file of items you have favored already that would be great to use in your new
treasury.
Every time you visit a treasury and click the hearts you will be adding to your list of favorites for future use.
If there are choices that you don’t want to keep after clicking the hearts, they can easily be removed by
clicking the “X” in each favorites box in your favorites. That way you keep only the choices you would like to use for future treasuries.
If you do not want to use favorites, the Etsy search link will get you to the colors or categories of the items
you are would like to use . Just insert the color or item name in the search space and choose either all items
or handmade and click. This way you will come up with many items to choose from.
Make your list of items you want to use and you are ready for step 2.)
2) CREATE YOUR LIST
Once you have a selection of items to feature, you can begin creating your list. You must be signed in to your
Etsy account. Go to Treasury (linked on the home page and the Buy page). In the right column, click the big
blue button that says Create a List. A new page will open up where you will build your list.
TITLE: Give your list a creative, catchy and meaningful name. This will help draw visitors in.
DESCRIPTION: Share the inspiration behind your list. This description will appear below the 16 items on your finished Treasury list.
PRIVACY: You can choose to make a list private (only visible to you) or public (visible to everyone).
BEFORE POSTING ALWAYS CHANGE THIS TO PUBLIC
TAGS: Tags are descriptive keywords that help shoppers discover Treasury lists. Use words that describe
your list as a whole. Enter a tag in the box and click Add. Your list will appear on the Treasury landing page
for the tags you choose, for example: www.etsy.com/treasury/tags/wedding. Dont forget to tag your Team
treasuries with STATTEAM.
Once you are happy with how your list appears, scroll down and click the Save button. DONT FORGET TO SEND YOUR CONVOS (notifications) TO THE PEOPLE YOU HAVE FEATURED.
ONCE YOU HAVE GOTTEN GOOD AT MAKING YOUR TREASURIES, YOU MAY USE DOUBLE SCREENS TO MAKE THEM. ONE FOR CHOSING YOUR ITEMS AND THE OTHER FOR YOUR TREASURY , USING
THE COPY AND PASTE METHOD TO TRANSFER YOUR CHOICES TO THE TREASURY

.
EDITING YOUR LIST
To edit your list, simply click the Edit button in the right column.
You can drag and drop the item images to change the order in which they appear in your list. The first three
images (beginning in the top left) will also be displayed on the Treasury index.
If you change your mind about an item, you can edit or remove it from your list. Just hover your cursor over
the item image, and two links appear to Edit or Remove.
Be sure to click the Save button once you are done making changes to your list.
MODERATING COMMENTS
As curator of your list, you have some control over the comments made by other members on your list. If
needed, you may delete a comment. Hover your mouse over the comment lower half and delete this comment should appear. Click on this to remove the comment from your treasury.
HERE ARE SOME ADDITIONAL TIPS TO USE WHEN CURATING
1. Top notch product photography is always key. In creating a treasury you will want to arrange the three
photographed items that stand out to you most. These are your KEY items that will catch the Etsy Admins.
eye when they are viewing curations.
2. Do NOT include your own shop.
3. Use each shop only ONCE.
4. Check out Etsy's merchandising desk to see what might have a better chance of hitting front pg:
www.etsy.com/storque/search/title/merchandising-desk/
5. Select a variety of listings from different price points and categories, ie. include vintage, supplies, fine art,
pottery, clothing, handbags, soap, cosmetics, jewelry, etc - as many different categories as you can fit into
your theme.
6. If you're pulling listings together from the general Etsy population, you can use search to find items.
7. Fill up all 18 tags - check trending tags from the Treasury page. If this is a team treasury, be sure to
include the tag "STATTEAM"
8. (Optional) Send a message to every shop letting them know you've featured them.
9. There are promotional etsy teams formed to help you promote your new treasury when you help others
promote theirs. Here's a link to one of STATTEAMS sister promotional team:
www.etsy.com/teams/10297/etsytreasurypromotionteam
10. Post links to your Treasury everywhere you can think to help promote! Be sure to post here! Use your
FACEBOOK, PINTEREST, TWITTER and Blog, the more you promote the better your
chances of landing the coveted Front Page!
Please feel free to ask questions and/or add anything else about how you go about creating Treasuries. Add

SHMETSY AND WHAT IT DOES FOR YOU
I highly recommend the use of Shmetsy... for those of you who dont know what it is... Shmetsy is an application that you download that aids you in making treasuries... Shmetsy allows you to instantly add items to your treasury by clicking a small "treasure" icon that is placed around the item section of your item's page. Click this and it will automatically add to the treasury you are working on... It also allows for you to save a treasury to draft to use later or to come back and finish at a later time... One of the best things that Shmetsy does for you is to let you send all convos to the featured members in one click... The Shmetsy website takes you through the process step by step... Here is the link to Shmetsy.. it will be one of your new best friends

BNR'S AND BNS'S AND HOW THEY WORK
I can explain in the short version, you know I was just talking with another Etsian about this yesterday and we decided that there really needs to be a place where we can explain treasuries and BNR/BNS to everyone who wants to try it. Maybe I can find a place where we can get it to others who dont know like I was and you are now.
Okay here goes, A BNR is a buy and replace which means that whoever buys the item from a featured shop replaces that shop on the page. A BNS is a buy and stay where the featured shop on the page stays and the person who purchases from that shop goes in your next BNR/BNS. This can be a little confusing to start with and most people like to start with a BNS. Also, you should spend some time visiting a few BNR/BNSs until you feel comfortable with how they work. After you get over the newness of it , they are really lots of fun.
Now to the procedure of the BNR/BNS.
First you make a treasury, which is 16 shops, Most Etsians know how to make a treasury but just in case you dont there is a treasury app on Etsy on your profile page, In a BNR/BNS you put your shop in as one of the 16 featured spots where in a treasury it is totally others.
Then you post whatever you want to title your BNR and add the words OPEN BNR so others know it is an open one. When you close at the end, dont forget to change it to CLOSED BNR. When you go to Etsy page one you will see OPEN and CLOSED BNR/BNSs and know what it means.
Then you write a description of the BNR in the place designated for it on the page. It can be anything that describes your BNR.
You also make up whatever rules you want to have as to how it will be run. I will include an example here. Pretend you are the Curator of the BNR and it could go like this.......
Hello and Welcome ^_^
There are some very simple Rules:
Call out in CAPS the shop you wish to purchase from
You DO NOT have to buy what is featured
Wait for my go ahead
Shop away!
Come back with transaction link!
I WILL CHOOSE THE ITEM TO GO UP UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED.
Thank you! ^_^
Now, I will explain some more, Calling out in Caps is Capital letters. Not buying what is featured means that they can purchase anything in the featured shops inventory and are not held to the item that is featured. Wait for my go ahead means you want them to wait until you have acknowledged their request and said it is okay. This is in case you are away from the BNR/BNS or that someone else is purchasing from that featured shop at the moment. So as not to confuse them. Shop away is pretty clear. Transaction link is the link you used to feature the item, on the item page, midway down on the right hand side of the page. It is what you use place your items for a treasury. You will need to see this so that you can confirm that the item has been indeed sold. Then you can either choose an item to replace, if it is a BNR ( remember in a BNS no replacement happens) or you can let them suggest an item for you to use to replace that item that was sold. This pretty much tells what your procedure for the BNR/BNS is going to be. This goes right below the Description on your first page of the BNR/BNS
That is pretty much it for rules. They can be whatever you want them to be, Check out different BNR/BNSs and see what you think fits you best.
Most of the time I dont require them to shout out ( Call out in Capital Letters) the name of the shop but most people do when you start out so you have a record of those sales . If you lose track of sales or have to leave for a few minutes, it is easier to keep track of your BNR sales. But it is your choice. Your BNR stays in your treasuries so you can always look back on it later.
You finish your BNR proof and then save it. Just like with treasuries. That posts it to the Treasury page on the Front page of Etsy. You then send out Convos to the people in your BNR and let them know when it is and that they are featured. I also ask them to send friends, since I am new and dont know that many shops yet. Most are willing to help out especially if they like BNR/BNSs.
You have to be available to check every few minutes to see if anyone is trying to post something on your BNR so pick a good time for you. I usually pick a time when I am doing other computer work so I can use a double screen to do other computer work and make it easier on myself than running back to the computer every few minutes. But if I need to go other places in my house there is always the laptop.
When someone buys something in a BNR you replace the item from the shop they purchased from with an item from their shop. In a BNS you dont. You replace it the same way as you would with a treasury. You copy and past their product id number into that spot and (ok) it. Most of the time it is just posting welcome messages and answering questions but you hope for sales.......
You can always offer incentives in your rules that you will give more rounds to those people who purchase from you. The best thing to do is go look at other BNRs and see what they do .
I hope this has helped some Got to go to work now. Let me know if I can help in any way. If I forgot to cover anything let me know and I will answer. Have a great day and get to work on your first.
